Photography is like cooking

The secret to preparing a great dish is having the finest ingredients to begin with. Then you have to find the right balance of those ingredients. The "right" balance can vary from dish to dish. What is too salty for one person may be perfect fo another. How much light? How fast? Colour? B&W? Focus? Unfocused? Broil? Fry? Bake? Pan? Pot? Toaster? Microwave?  No matter how you prepare or what equipment you have, it still boils down to how good your raw ingredients are.

A good photographer like a good cook never stops learning. He/She is always trying new recipes. There are countless recipes for a great meal just as there are countless great photographs.

I have been cooking and taking photograghs since I was 12-13 years old. I am happy to say that no one has ever become ill after trying one of my "new" dishes. Although I have a few flavourite reliable recipes and some proven reliable methods of taking photograghs, I get most excited when I have discovered something that is new to me.
